SORA ~ ORGANISATION FOR THE RESCUE OF ANIMALS

The SORA Organisation for the Rescue of Animals is a non profit organisation based in Ireland and serving the needs of rescued animals that have been afflicted by war. We presently have an animal shelter(s) and veterinary clinic. We care for and rescue animals from war torn regions, especially from towns and villages that have been abandoned due to heavy bombardment. SORA is an independent charity funded by private donors worldwide.

SORA recognises that animals have rights and are innocent victims of man made wars.

It is our duty and responsibility to ensure their safety and well being to the best of our abilities.

We endeavour to ensure that the basic survival needs of all animals in the war torn area of Idlib are made available to them.

SORA believes that animals are sentient beings with a desire to live and we aspire to be their care givers.

SORA believes that the way a society treats their animals is a reflection of it's humanitarian state. Our work is therefore an integral part of role modelling for future generations.

Our Mission

  • To rescue domesticated and agricultural animals that have been injured or abandoned as a result of war.
  • To provide these animals with refuge, food, drinking water, medical care, love and attention.
  • To take responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and care of these animals.
  • To neuter male domesticated animals to prevent the overpopulation of cats and dogs on the abandoned streets and In the shelter.
  • To rehabilitate agriculture animals and find them good homes.
  • To patrol the natural environment which has also been wounded by war and give care and attention to any wildlife in need.
  • In the case of finding any wildlife animals injured we will bring them to the Shelter to receive medical care and to recover before being reintroduced into their natural environment.
  • We ultimately aim to care for and serve any animal in need within the region.
